Who We Are

The SFPP is Switzerland’s leading network for professional private investigators and former law enforcement officers.

Since 1979, we’ve been uniting experts who uphold the highest standards in private investigations, combining decades of field experience with modern investigative methods.

History of the Association

The Swiss Professional Association for Private Investigators and Former Police Officers (SFPP), formerly known as the Swiss Private Detective Association of Former Police and Criminal Officers (SPPK), was founded in 1979 in Zurich.

On March 28, 2025, the association adopted its new name to reflect the evolution of the profession and the broader range of expertise now represented within its ranks. Originally a network for former police and criminal officers, the association has developed into a professional platform for qualified investigative specialists.

Today, the SFPP stands for competence, reliability, and discretion. In addition to members with a law enforcement background, experienced private investigators with proven professional activity are now equally welcome. This step ensures that the association continues to reflect the realities of the modern investigative field.

From 2006 to 2019, Hans Ruch played a key role in shaping our association as President. Today, we can call him “Honorary President” – and are delighted that he will hopefully continue to support us in this role for a long time to come.

Our association represents the interests of professional Swiss private investigators.
